to start things off, i would like to offer up big ups to my man mvp, who got engaged this weekend to a really rad girl.  hes a white boy from the gr, shes a korean girl from guam.  its a match made in heaven.  so ill be in the gr memorial day weekend, '08, celebrating with my calvin boys.

this weekend was great.  in fact, all the weekends have been great this past month or so.  saturday we went out to a swanky club on the near north side to celebrate a birthday.  i was lookin super urban chic, and melissa was lookin pretty fine herself, so a photographer at the club wanted to take our picture and upload it to their website.  melissa was camera shy though, and declined for us.  then later in the evening, a very strange thing happened.  i danced and i wasnt even drunk.  absolute craziness!  there is just something about her that makes me put down my guard.  shes a riot too.  she will talk to absolutely anyone (kinda like tif...haha).  we ran errands together today, and every time we checked out, she talked with the cashier and had a real conversation with them.  earlier this week i went to her place and met two of her best friends.  i think i made a good impression.  im not the most friendly person at first, but i made it a point to go out of my way with her friends.  i guess it worked because they told her the next morning that i was hot, and nice.    things are going really well to say the least.

life is good

never before has my life as a whole been this good.  its seems that every aspect is close to perfect.  i really enjoy my job, i live in a city i love, i live in an amazing condo, i live with 4 great guys, my relationship with my parents has never been better, my friends are absolutely amazing, my walk with God is consistent and present, im participating more in church, and im dating possibly the coolest girl ever.  God has really blessed me and i feel so fortunate.  it is also kinda scary because life is going so well, i keep on thinking im either going to wake up or something bad is going to bring me down to earth.  no matter what, God has been answering prayers left and right, and has really watched over me these past months.  its ironic that i might in fact have the worst year and the best year of my life in the same year.  thats all for now.

it has been quite a few weeks since my last entry and so much has gone on.  vegas was an absolute blast and i cant wait to head back there next year.  i managed a total of 9 hours of sleep over three nights.  needless to say it took me a whole week to recover, but it was definitely worth it.  in other news ive been living at the new condo for a week and a half now.  its nice to be on my own again and with such an awesome group of guys.  the contractor still needs to fix a couple things (some electrical crap, and install the wet bar), but the place is liveable.  work has been going well, and volleyball is almost done.  playoffs have been going on and we made it to the final four.  tomorrow we play payton, who we lost to twice in the regular season.  i kinda want us to lose tomorrow because softball playoffs are this weekend and if we win tomorrow against payton we play on saturday.  what a nightmare if i have to chose between coaching the city championship game, or playing in the softball tournament.  speaking of softball, we finished the regular season 5-2, and beat the defending champs 13-12 in the last game of the season.  the team has really come together this season and we are finally playing the way i knew we could when j and i assembled the team.  my hitting has been unbelievable too.  i havent calculated all of the stats yet, but im guessing im hitting somewhere around .500, with a .750 on base percentage.  nice.  life is good and its awesome to see how far i have come in the past eight months.  i met with pastor last week, and he has noticed so much how God has worked with me as well as through me during this year.  a visible example of God working is that im interested in the ladies again.  i even did something ive never done before....i asked a girl out on a date.  it wasnt nearly as hard or as nerve racking as i thought it would be.  good times. we went to a hawks game and it was awesome.  im not sure what im looking for in a relationship right now, but this girl is awesome.  shes cute, smart (got her undergrad and masters in 4 years), hilarious, and LOVES sports.  she called me sunday night complaining that she couldnt get her lesson plan together because she was too busy watching the cowboys/patriots game.  wow.  just...wow.    so we shall see!  ok it is way past my bedtime.  peace.

VEGAS IN 2 DAYS!

im excited....very excited.  a ton of us are going and its going to be a 3 day party.  gambling, booze, smoking, sports.  all in moderation of course!   this is my first time hitting up vegas (due to unforeseen ironic restrictions), and i plan on enjoying every minute of it.  ben is turning 21 the night we get in and everyone is going to make sure he has a drink in his hand the whole weekend.    mikie will be our tour guide for the most part.  speaking of mikie, he was in town this past weekend and stay at the rents place.  we had a kick ass time saturday night going to a bar in lincoln park, then one in northcenter, then hittin up suzies at 230 in the am. jasons friend steve was in from phoenix for business and he graced us with his amazing presence saturday night as well.  that guy has to be one of the funniest people i have ever met.  some highlights include a dance-off between mikie and steve, dan finding a bicycle...trying to ride it...and eating it HARD on a turn, fitting eight in yoons car (with steve being the lucky winner having kristens friend sit on his lap), and everyone hating on korean girls at suzies.  haha good times.  i wish there were pics, but alas, there are none.

changing subjects...im reading the tony dungy book, "Quite Strength" and it is blowing me away.  just to fill those of you in, dungy is the head coach of the Indianapolis colts.  yes, the team that beat the bears.  i decided to read it because i know dungy is a man of deep faith and i was interested to follow his journey to a super bowl as well as how he handled the tragic death of his 19 year old son from suicide.  dungy has the faith i crave.  he is a man of conviction and his actions truly reflect his relationship with Christ.  its pretty amazing to see how he incorporates his faith in absolutely everything.  even though im upset with the colts beating the bears in the super bowl, this book has given me a deep respect for dungy and has encouraged and challenged me in my faith during my own time of grief.  i recommend this book for real, and that means a lot coming from someone (me) who doesnt like to read.

on friday, after our softball game (which we won by slaughter and are now 2-0), i was driving home on lincoln and saw my stinky.  well, it wasnt MY stinky, but it looked just like her.  the dog i saw was hanging its head out the window - which was stinkys favorite thing in the entire world to do.  it broke my heart, and now ive been having dreams about playing with her.  sad stuff.  i miss that dog (and fin) so much.  i try to put it in perspective though and realize some people lose their children in a divorce.  that has to be the hardest thing in the world.  i wish i fought for stinky instead of just leaving her.  ya, my mom is allergic, but im sure i could have found a good home for her with someone else until i moved out.  sigh...... here is a pic of my two babies.
